I find myself in Dublin with a little free time on my hands, and I’m using it for a couple of creative pursuits. I brought along my new gouache and some postcard-sized watercolor paper, as well as a sketchbook and various sketching utensils. But my main focus is on working through the book Perfect Digital Photography and trying to teach myself to use my new DSLR camera.
I am an impatient student, but hopefully I’ll start to see my new knowledge come through in my photos soon. You can check up on my progress on my flickr stream.
Both gorgeous shots. I love the iron work on that lamp in the silhouette photo.
Hi Juls
Thanks for the help on my German learning. It is an experience ๐
I love new cameras – but like you I don’t like the learning of the new settings. Am looking forward to more shots. Only 21 weeks and I will be taking pictures over there myself ๐

Aren’t DSLR’s the best? So much to learn about them – take your time and soak it all in.
Steve – Thanks! The iron street lamps here are adorable. I think I’ll photograph a series of them next time the sun shines.
Emma – I love that you’re counting down the weeks to your trip. Anticipation is so much fun!
Carin – I honestly don’t know how I lived without one for so long. I love this camera!
