I usually paint portraits from photographs. This one, my first one in oils for a long time, was from life. My husband was working at the computer while I painted. He moved around more than I would have liked, so the resulting image is a little inconsistent. That’s why I like photos – they make such patient subjects. Still, I’m happy enough with this as the result of a couple hours at the easel.
Wow, nice painting! Like the eyes especially. But I love your blog title… my muse could use a good beating! I have execution skills, no question, but I want for interesting ideas most of the time. Stupid muse ๐

Thanks, Cyndee. The paints started getting a little muddy towards the end of the session, but luckily not so much as to completely ruin things.
