Chili Peppers, 15 x 15 cm, oil on canvas, ©2011 Julie Galante. [SOLD]
I felt like doing something a little different today, and that ended up being this palette knife painting of chili peppers. For the most part I used the colors straight out of the tubes. I was going for simple shapes and bright colors. All that thick, shiny, wet paint proved hard to photograph, but hopefully I’ll get a better shot of it later.
November is Art Every Day Month. I’ll be posting a new small painting here each and every day. After they have had time to dry (a couple weeks), most of the original paintings will also appear in my Etsy shop. Paintings from the beginning of the month are already there! Christmas cards, too.
All that beauty with a palette knife? Wow!
It’s stunning in its simplicity 🙂
I agree with Nigel. You have going on there all the things I love: simplicity, colours straight from the tube, no mixing and the light.
The way the light catches it brings it to life.
I love it!

That is so impressive that you were able to so accurately capture the look of chili peppers with only paint and a palette knife! Reminds me of trips to the farmers market during the summer and the colorful vegetables and fruit there.
Thanks so much, all of you! This one was really fun to do. Maybe I should do palette-knife still lifes more often.
