I just started a short course at Edinburgh College of Art called Scottish Colourists Revisited, where each week we’ll be tackling a subject matter beloved by the Colourists. I love taking art classes – it gets me out of the house/studio, allows me to meet new people, and nudges me to make art I wouldn’t have otherwise made. As evidence I submit these two paintings from our first day of class. I can’t remember the last time I set up a (non-food) still life in my studio, but I really enjoyed the experience of arranging and painting these pieces with traditional still life subject groupings.
Next week we’ll be sketching interiors. I’m looking forward to it.
