What’s happening to me? Up until a couple weeks ago, most of my recent work consisted of moody cityscapes. This week it’s suddenly all sunsets and cupcakes and pink cocktails. I feel like I should throw in some rainbows and unicorns for good measure (both of which are quite easy to find in Scotland, now that I think about it). Seriously, this is the last mixed media piece I was working on before it got pushed aside for the start of these new oil daily paintings:
I don’t really know what’s going on here. I’m sure I’ll get back to the darker stuff, the work that admittedly fits my temperament much better than fluffy cupcakes do, sooner or later. I do have a couple of whisky-by-the-fireplace still lifes queued up to paint soon – perhaps they’ll help balance things out a bit.

It’s Art Every Day Month! Towards the end of the month, these new daily paintings will be available to purchase in my Etsy shop. Check out Leah’s blog for more information about Art Every Day Month, or follow the discussion on Twitter with the #aedm2014 hashtag.
Well, I am enjoying the lighter, fluffier side of your art…although it is making me hungry for things I should avoid! Lovely!
gorgeous work! those cupcakes look good enough to eat!
Oh, just run with it! Totally loving your food portraits!
Maybe you should paint some happy little trees to go with the happy little cupcakes.
Thanks for the encouragement. Perhaps I need to go find more cupcakes.
Oh oil paint is the perfect medium for capturing lovely buttery frosting! 🙂
Very Cool Cityscape – even if it’s not your Day 6 entry. 😉
